Ethereum at a Crossroads: Will ETH Drop Below $1,500?

Ethereum (ETH) is facing a bearish trend with an 8% weekly and 2.59% monthly drop, raising concerns about potential further declines. Analysts are debating whether ETH’s 30% weekly and 50% quarterly losses signal the start of a bear market, amidst rumors of the Ethereum Foundation facing a risk if ETH falls below $1,100. market uncertainty remains high as traders focus on risk management, awaiting signals to determine if current ETH levels mark a bottom or a prolonged bear cycle.

Ethereum’s Holesky Testnet Reaches Finality After Pectra Upgrade Issue

Ethereum’s Holesky testnet finally reached finality on Monday, nearly two weeks after the Pectra upgrade went live. Epoch 119,090 sealed the deal at around 19:00 UTC, with over two-thirds of validators validating the network. Finality, which locks transactions irreversibly within two epochs or about 13 minutes, had been absent since Feb. 24 due to a configuration bug in the client software, not the Pectra upgrade itself. Restoration efforts over the past weeks enabled this recovery. Developers are now stabilizing nodes and pruning old states to fully revive the testnet for further Pectra testing.

Cboe Files Proposal for Staking in Fidelity’s Ethereum ETF

The Chicago Board Options Exchange has filed a proposal with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to permit staking for the Fidelity Ethereum Fund. This initiative aims to enable the fund to stake its Ethereum (ETH) holdings, potentially enhancing returns for investors. Staking involves committing crypto holdings to support the operations of a blockchain network. In Ethereum’s proof-of-stake system, validators are selected based on the number of tokens they stake, which helps secure the network and process transactions. Participants earn rewards, typically in the form of additional tokens, for their contribution. Ethereum’s price reacted positively to the news, with a slight increase to $1,960. If approved, the Fidelity Ethereum Fund would be among the first ETFs in the U.S. to incorporate staking.

Ether Whale Prevents $340M Liquidation With Last Minute Deposits

An Ethereum user saved several MakerDAO positions from a $360 million liquidation cascade on Tuesday by adding collateral at the last minute as the price of ETH tumbled. One of the positions, which had been inactive since November, was NEAR liquidation with a price of $1,928. The wallet owner deposited 2,000 ETH from Bitfinex as additional collateral and paid back $1.5 million worth of the DAI stablecoin. The position remains vulnerable and will be liquidated if ETH drops to $1,781 or until more collateral is added.
